Around The World In Pictures : Andaman


Water Monitors (Varanus salvator) are known to be the longest lizards in the world. It would not be uncommon to encounter a 6-footer on a walk. They are often seen basking near mangroves or in vegetation near the Andaman coasts. Their amazing camouflage makes them disappear as easily into the undergrowth.
